REISSUE: Dave Matthews Band – Everyday (25th Anniversary)

Dave Matthews Band's fourth album, Everyday was released 25 years ago and to celebrate, RCA/Legacy Recordings has finally released the album on vinyl for the first time.  Out now, the album is presented as a 2LP set mastered at 45RPM on standard black or "cove" colored vinyl (see above).

When Everyday was first released in 2001, the album - led by hits "The Space Between" and "When The World Ends" - was a bit polarizing as the band shifted away from their trademark acoustic driven sound towards electric guitars and slick, pop-leaning arrangements.  The album opener, "I Did It" certainly made a statement, crashing through with a loud, electric guitar-driven groove and sly, tongue-in-cheek lyrics.  But all is well when the acoustic guitars return to lead the standout single, "When The World Ends".  The third single, "The Space Between" is a yearning ballad that balances the twinkling electric guitars and piano with soaring sincerity.  Other standout tracks include "So Right" with its jubilant horns and funky rhythm, the stirring, World Music-inspired "What You Are", the Flamenco-fueled "Mother Father", and of course, the soulful closing title track, "Everyday".

Well, it only took 25 years to get Dave Matthews Band's fourth album, Everyday on vinyl but this new 45RPM 2LP vinyl pressing does this great album justice.  Now DMB fans await the eventual vinyl reissues of Busted Stuff and Stand Up...
