Stream It From The Mountain: Joesph – I Dreamed You Were My Lover
Joesph is the psych-rock project led by Joey Cook,
formerly of Cincy psych-pop faves Pomegranates/Healing Power. The third Joesph album titled, I Dreamed You Were My Lover was released
last week via Cook’s own label, The Eyebrow Palace. Usually a trio with Cook joined by Pierce
Geary and Devyn Glista; he goes it alone for this new album, which was actually
recorded in 2013.
I
Dreamed You Were My Lover is highlighted by acoustic guitars
and strange synths, adding elements of prog rock and psych-folk to his quirky brand of bedroom
pop. Standouts include, “Two Suns” which
retains some of Healing Power’s surging surf-rock dynamics and “Flash And Flame”
which grows from an acoustic strummer to an electrified psychedelic freak-out.
The album is available now digitally, on CD and as a
limited edition CD box set that includes artwork by Cook and artifacts inspired
by the album.
