3 Songs: On Repeat

Hibou – “Dissolve” (The Seattle-based post-punk project of Peter Michel – former Craft Spells drummer - is set to release his self-titled debut album via Barsuk today.  His nostalgia-inducing 80’s -inspired sound takes references from C86, dream-pop and shoegaze and mixes it with prog-rock tendencies and layers of hazy, reverb-rich melodies for a very promising debut.) http://www.barsuk.com/w3.cgi?vwy=artists/hibou

Windhand – “Hyperion” (Today marks the Relapse Records release of the Richmond, VA-based band’s highly-anticipated third album, Grief's Infernal Flower.  Produced by the legendary Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden), the new album continues the band’s triumphant efforts to blend frontwoman Dorthia Cottrell’s beautiful, powerful yet poppy vocals with slow, stomping rhythms and heavy, sludge-crusted guitar riffs for a psychedelic-laced doom rock sound beyond comparison.) http://www.windhand.band/

Still Alive – “Actors And Puppets” (Death metal growls and guitar riffs and ska-core unexpectedly collide on the new album, Choices, out now via Jump Start Records.  Lyrically, the Chicago-based quartet exposes some of the negative aspects of life - government, depression, etc. – but there is a glimmer of hope in their heaviness and Choices is a collection of 11 cathartic punk anthems that you can dance and shout along to in the pit.) http://jumpstartrecords.bandcamp.com/album/choices
