3 Songs: On Repeat

Hanz Bronze – “Elderberry Dawn” (Hanz Bronze is an Oregon-by-way-of Kansas City singer-songwriter who was used to playing in the background, playing percussion on the White Flight (Justin of The Anniversary) album and writing lyrics for Suzannah Johannes.  That all changes now with the Range Life Records release of his eclectic self-titled debut album, available digitally and on limited edition cassette.  Recorded and mixed by Dave Jablonski of Marmoset, the spotlight now shines on his short blasts of quirky pop sensibility, humorous lyrics and raucous slacker-rock riffs alongside jazzy, lounge lizard freakouts for a very promising debut.) http://hanzbronze.com/

Ecstatic Vision – “Astral Plane” (Featuring members of former metalcore band A Life Once Lost, the Philly-based Ecstatic Vision – self-proclaimed “primal heavy psych” band - creates a hypnotic Hawkwind-like hybrid of heavy 70’s-inspired psych-rock meshed with pounding tribal rhythms on their trippy debut album, Sonic Praise, out now via Relapse Records, that certainly lives up to the description.) http://ecstaticvision.bandcamp.com/

August Burns Red – “The Wake” (This week the Christian metalcore mainstays released Found In Far Away Places, their sixth album and label debut for Fearless Records.  The excellent new album is bursting with all of the positive lyrics, raging riffs, brutal breakdowns and off-kilter time changes that you have come to expect from the band but well-placed experiments with soaring and waltzing old world-style orchestration bring a fresh approach to their unrivaled sound.  Jeremy McKinnon of A Day To Remember contributes vocals to another standout track, “Ghosts”.) http://augustburnsred.com/
