3 Songs: On Repeat (Extended Edition)

The Rad Trads – “Wishing Well” (The retro-minded NYC band recently released their stellar sophomore album, On Tap.  True to their name, the quintet brings punk rock energy to their jazz, soul and country-inflected folk rock sound along with horns and a sense of humor.  They will bring their heralded, “can’t miss” live show to Dayton, tonight for a free show at the newly-constructed Levitt Pavilion: https://levittdayton.org/artist/rad-trads) http://www.theradtrads.com/

William Matheny – “Flashes And Cables” (In just over a year and a half, the suddenly prolific West Virginia alt-country singer-songwriter has released his promising debut album, an EP, and now a 7” single featuring a new song and a cover.  Out today on Misra Records, the 2-song single features a Petty-esque new track, “Christian Name” and is backed by Matheny’s shimmery take on the Will Johnson-penned Centro-Matic track, “Flashes and Cables”, heard here, which is updated with a searing, extended guitar solo.) http://williammatheny.com/

The Beholders – “Back To The City” (With two solids EPs under their belt and now with a slight change to their moniker, K.C. psych-rock band Jim Button & the Beholders reemerge with a new name, The Beholders, and a new 2-song single, out now on High Dive Records.  The A-side - heard here - is a jangly yet lovelorn psych-pop tune with elements of surf rock that continues to impress and heightens the anticipation for a full-length release.) https://the-beholders.bandcamp.com/album/back-to-the-city-single

Paul Collins – “Go” (The power-pop pioneer - formerly of The Nerves along with Peter Case and Jack Lee - is set to release his twelfth solo album, Out Of My Head, today on Alive Naturalsound Records.  The reverb-rich Rickenbackers and bright, instantly-catchy melodies you have come to expect from Paul remain but the new album has a youthful energy and spirit reminiscent of the reason you fell in love with his music from the beginning.  Check out the bittersweet sentiments of the succinct single, “Go”, here.) http://www.thepaulcollinsbeat.com
