REISSUE: Bob Dylan - Live 1962 – 1966: Rare Performances from The Copyright Collections

Columbia Records/Legacy Recordings recently released a new compilation of rare live Bob Dylan performances titled, Live 1962 – 1966: Rare Performances from The Copyright Collections.  Though not under the usual Bootleg Series banner, the two-disc compilation is culled from the extremely limited edition (100 copies each!) “50th Anniversary / Copyright Extension” albums which were originally released in 2012, 2013 and 2014 to prevent the recordings from entering the public domain.
This new 29-song collection outlines Dylan’s humble café folk beginnings all the way to his full band electric era.  The album opens with early recordings from Gerde’s Folk City in 1962, his 1963 New York’s Town Hall and Carnegie Hall concerts, and highlighted by “When The Ship Comes In”, a duet with Joan Baez, taken from the historic March on Washington on August 28, 1963.  The album is rounded out by recordings from his 1965 and 1966 European world tours and the legendarily incendiary electric Newport Folk Festival performances.
The track list also includes long-loved fan favorites such as “Blowin’ In The Wind”, “Maggie’s Farm”, “Mr. Tambourine Man”, “Ballad Of A Thin Man”, “It Ain’t Me Babe”, “Chimes Of Freedom” and many more.
