3 Songs: On Repeat

Deaf Wish – “FFS” (The aptly-titled Melbourne noise-rockers return today with Lithium Zion, their fifth album and second release for Sub Pop.  The quartet creates a barely-hinged blend of guitar-led garage-rock and post-punk.  Guitarist Sarah Hardiman takes the lead on vocals on the raging and moody standout single heard here and sounds like Kim Gordon.)   https://deafwishstyle.bandcamp.com/album/lithium-zion-2

Lowhency Pierre – “Night Talker” (Led by its namesake vocalist/lyricist, the Brooklyn-based funk/soul/R&B band recently released their debut, EP1.   In addition to the smooth and malleable vocals of Pierre, the band - featuring bassist Jed Nimitz, drummer Daniel Kalbrosky and guitarist/keyboardist Andrew Connor of Ghosty – create warm, slightly psychedelic R&B-informed soul-pop vibes for a very promising debut.) https://lowhencypierre.bandcamp.com/album/ep1

Hopesfall – “Faint Object Camera” (The N.C. post-hardcore band formed in 98 and lasted a decade before breaking up too soon in 2008.  Alas, they recently reformed and have released a new album, Arbiter, via producer Wil Putney’s Graphic Nature imprint under Equal Vison Records.  The excellent new album perfectly splits the difference between their dark, ethereal side and their louder yet highly-melodic riff-focused side for a most welcome return.) https://hopesfall.lnk.to/arbiter
