REISSUE: Coroner - R.I.P., Punishment For Decadence and No More Color

Coroner, the Swiss 80’s thrash metal legends - consisting of bassist/vocalist Ron Royce, guitarist Tommy T. Baron, and drummer Marquis Marky - were originally the road crew for Celtic Frost.  Breaking out on their own, the power trio formed in 1983 and disbanded in 1996, releasing five albums during that time.  In my opinion, their best was their fourth album, No More Color, released in 1989, which perfected their blend of intricate prog-rock and riff-focused thrash metal that balanced speed and technicality.  At the time, the band flew under the radar but they were your favorite band’s favorite band and their albums have become cult classics.  In 2010, Royce and Baron reformed the band with drummer Diego Rapacchietti and have played reunion shows and are rumored to be working on new music.
Finally, Century Media/Sony Music has reissued the trio’s long out of print albums.  Out now, their 1987 debut, R.I.P., Punishment For Decadence (1988), the aforementioned No More Color, 1991’s Mental Vortex and their final album, Grin, released in 1993, have all been remastered and are available again on CD and vinyl for new generations to discover.
