SHOW ALERT: Stone Temple Pilots, Bush, The Cult & Julien-K at The Rose Music Center 7/22
Two of the best alternative rock band of the 90’s,
Stone Temple Pilots and Bush are teaming up with one of the best rock bands
from the 80’s, The Cult for the Revolution
3 Tour. Also joining them is
electro-rock band Julien-K. These four
powerhouse bands will make a stop at The Rose Music Center in Huber Heights on
Sunday, July 22.
90’s alt-rock survivors, Stone Temple Pilots, suffered
the death of two vocalists (the charismatic yet troubled original vocalist
Scott Weiland and Chester Bennington of Linkin Park) in the last three years; yet
brothers Robert and Dean DeLeo along with drummer Eric Kretz have soldiered on
with a new vocalist and a new self-titled album, released earlier this year on
Rhino Records. The recently recruited
vocalist, Jeff Gutt – who first tasted fame on the TV singing competition
X-Factor - adopts Weiland’s distinct wail almost too-perfectly but as always,
the brothers DeLeo know their way around a glam-soaked and psychedelic hard-rock
riff. http://stonetemplepilots.com/
Bush – led by Gavin Rossdale – absolutely dominated the
airwaves in the 90’s with their 1994 breakout debut album, Sixteen Stone with its five hit singles, “Everything Zen”, “Comedown”,
“Little Things”, “Machinehead”, and “Glycerine”. They remained in the spotlight throughout the
90’s before dissolving in 2001. Rossdale
reformed the band in 2010 with a new lineup consisting of original drummer
Robin Goodridge, guitarist Chris Traynor and bassist Corey Britz and has
released three more albums with the latest being 2017’s Black And White Rainbows. http://bushofficial.com/
Influential British rock band, The Cult – led by
vocalist Ian Astbury and guitarist Billy Duffy – blended 60’s psychedelia, 70’s
classic rock grandeur and 80’s post-punk sensibilities into a hard rock sound
that was wholly unique. They are best
known for their hits, “She Sells Sanctuary”, “Rain”, “Fire Woman”, “Sweet Soul
Sister” and “Edie (Ciao Baby)”. Their
latest album, Hidden City was
released in 2016. https://www.facebook.com/officialcult/
Rounding out the bill is the California-based
electro-rock band Julien-K. The band formed in 2003 and is the brainchild of
Amir Derakh and Ryan Shuck, formerly of 90’s synth-rockers Orgy. They have released four successfully crowd-funded
albums and most recently released, Time
Capsule: A Future Retrospective, a massive 4-disc 64-song collection
consisting of unreleased songs, b-sides, never heard before remixes, and live
versions of some of their biggest hits in 2017. They are currently working on
their fifth, Harmonic Disruptor, due for
release early next year. http://www.julienk.com/
