On his stunning fourth album, Itinerant Arias - out now on Anti Records - the NY-based singer-songwriter Christopher Paul Stelling is backed by a full band for the first time.  Not quite as shocking as when Dylan went electric, Stelling beefs up his previously stripped-down brand of foot-stomping and fingerpicked folk with fuller arrangements loaded with layers of Gospel-tinged background vocals, gorgeous strings and drums; though the focus remains on CPS’s timeless, soulful wail and stellar songwriting.   

The shuffling drum beat and swirling strings of the politically-charged single, "The Cost Of Doing Business" and the Gospel-soaked and hopeful "Destitute" are stand outs.
