Stream It From The Mountain: Arc Flash – Carbon Copy

Arc Flash, the Lawrence, Kansas based duo of Mark Rockwell and James Thomblison released their debut album, Carbon Copy, last week on High Dive Records.  The two musicians are also members of High Dive’s garage-punk band Psychic Heat.  As Arc Flash, their music is no carbon copy of anything or anyone, it is an energetic and psychotic take on punk-infused psych-pop and surf-rock; except like No Age before them, they reveal sticky pop gems beneath the noisy veneer.  Starting with the experimental instrumental track, “Ohmeter”, the second half of the album sees the band incorporating elements of spacey prog-rock and locked-in Krautrock-like grooves to the mix for something entirely all their own.
