REVIEW: Beastie Boys – Beastie Boys Music
The Beastie Boys - MCA, Ad-Rock and Mike D - were
once-in-a-lifetime; from their hardcore beginnings to hip-hop stardom, there
was and never will be a band like them again.
Rightfully so, the last few years we have seen a celebration of the
Beastie Boys, with their aptly-titled book, Beastie
Boys Book and the Spike Jonze-directed documentary film, Beastie Boys Story.
The celebration continues with the recent release of Beastie Boys Music - a companion to the
film - out now on Capitol/UMe. Available
on 180gm 2LP, this 20-song compilation is chronological – beginning with the
songs you know so well on Licensed To Ill
to their final album Hot Sauce Committee
Part Two - and complete as is contains “(You Gotta) Fight For Your Right (To
Party)”, which had been omitted at the band’s request from prior Best Of
compilations.
Celebrate the 30-plus year career of the Beastie Boys by
listening to Beastie Boys Music on
vinyl while thumbing through the Beastie
Boys Book and watching the Beastie
Boys Story.
