Stream It From The Mountain: Unwed Sailor – Look Alive

As Unwed Sailor, Johnathon Ford (Pedro the Lion/Roadside Monument) has been churning out bass guitar led propulsive post-rock instrumentals for over two decades.  His latest album, Look Alive, is out now on limited cassette and digital via Steadfast Records and on vinyl from Old Bear Records.   

On Look Alive, Ford is joined by guitarist David Swatzell and drummer Matthew Putman; together they have created their most melodically-stirring album yet with moody melodies, elements of 90’s alt-rock and swathes of synths sparkling against a dense shoegaze-inspired background.  The opening track, “Glaring” is a danceable slice of modern New Romantic pop.  Another standout, “Camino Reel” features a fuzzed out bass groove that recalls Ned’s Atomic Dustbin.
