Anya Marina - "Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II"

You may have already heard Anya Marina’s music, as it has been featured in shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and Gossip Girl. You know that insanely catchy tune you were mindlessly whistling for days after the show? Well tomorrow, you can pick up Anya’s sophomore full length, “Slow & Steady Seduction, Phase II” on Chop Shop Records.

Anya, a former radio DJ enlisted some help from a few of her friends, in Britt Daniel of Spoon and Brian Karscig from Louis XIV, who put their stamp on their respective tracks. “Afterparty At Jimmy’s” has the retro 60’s rock swagger of Louis XIV and the Britt assisted, “Drop Dead Blues” sounds like Spoon fronted by Juliana Hatfield. But Anya makes things interesting enough with her coy, child-like vocals and quirky, conversational lyrical style over some of this year’s catchiest indie-pop tunes. Instead of the standard acoustic-driven singer/songwriter fare, memorable muted trumpets, whistling, hand-claps and other unique instrumentation help to turn the songs into infectious heartfelt pop confections.

So be sure to check out "Slow & Steady Seduction: Phase II" on Jan. 20th, and don't miss Anya Marina when she comes to your town. As a former DJ, she engages the crowd with her music and jokes. She is currently on tour with The Virgins. Check out www.myspace.com/anyamarina for tour dates and more info.
