Surf City - "Surf City" EP

Morr Music will release the debut self titled EP from New Zealand's Surf City on November 25th. Surf City mixes punk rock's urgency and classic Beach Boys and Zombies pop with an energetic, noisy lo-fi aesthetic. The vocals have layers of reverb and echo on the big, live "sing along" sounding chorus over top of chiming keyboards, clashing guitars and an insistent beat in the song "Headin' Inside". "Records Of A Flagpole Skater" storms by on a 60's keyboard line and a Ramones-like guitar riff with "fist in the air" shout outs. Frazzled and happy, Surf City reminds me of a dirtier Vampire Weekend.

Surf City has crafted a fun, nostalgic and instantly catchy debut. Hopefully the wait for a full length is not a long one because I already want more. Help me spread the word because Surf City should be heard!
