Stream It From The Mountain: The Nautical Theme – Float
The Dayton indie-folk duo consisting of vocalist/keyboardist
Tesia Mallory and vocalist/guitarist Matt Shetler recently released their promising
debut album, Float. The two singer-songwriters first met and
played together in the band Good Luck Year.
Once that band dissolved the formally trained multi-instrumentalist Mallory
(currently a worship designer and music leader) and Shetler (previously of hardcore
band, Waking Kills The Dream) merged their diverse musical backgrounds into a melody-rich
brand of folk-pop that blends the close-knit harmonies of The Civil Wars with
catchy, indie-rock inspired melodies.
Their debut album - mixed by Micah Carli
(ex-Hawthorne Heights) at his Popside Recording Studio - features 12 songs with
stripped-down arrangements driven by acoustic guitar and piano-led rhythms,
with the spotlight on their complex dual male/female vocal harmonies. Standout tracks include the inspiring and
cinematic “Have A Little Fun” and the infectiously catchy emo-lite vocal
melodies of “One Long Day And Night”.
