RECAP: Bunbury Music Festival 2016
The fifth annual Bunbury Music Festival took place
this past weekend in downtown Cincinnati, led by headliners The Killers,
Deadmau5 and Florence + The Machine.
The highly-eclectic lineup – including memorable performances
from local classic country & western crooner Jeremey Pinnell, soul soldier
Charles Bradley and the horror-funk of Here Come The Mummies - was bolstered by
the energetic performances from the pop/rock hybrid sister act Haim, bluesy
alt-rockers Holy White Hounds, punk vets Bayside and The Mowgli’s, who returned
for their second time to bring their upbeat, sun-drenched indie-pop.
One of the most memorable highlights of the festival
took place opening night as The Killers played several songs against a backdrop
of the Reds’ Friday Night Fireworks display which was the perfect visual addition
to the Las Vegas band’s bombastic arena-sized anthems. They also played a short cover of the WKRP in
Cincinnati TV show theme song.
Once again Bunbury was a booming success and
continues to put Cincinnati on the map for music festivals. Here’s to next year!
